Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Want to Know — Answered With Care
We know your dog is family, and choosing a wellness device for them deserves clarity and confidence. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about MitoCollar™ — from how it works and daily use to safety, shipping, and warranty details.
Function & Science
How does the MitoCollar™ actually work?
The MitoCollar™ uses coherent, collimated low-level laser light aimed over
the jugular vein. This allows billions of photons to interact with circulating
blood and nearby tissues, stimulating the mitochondria—your pet’s cellular
“power plants.” This process can enhance energy production (ATP), improve cellular repair, activate immune function, regulate inflammation throughout the body, and more.
What conditions can the MitoCollar™ help with?
The MitoCollar™ is designed to support mitochondrial function. Because mitochondria play a role in nearly every cell in major body systems—including the nervous system, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, immune system, metabolic system, and digestive system—supporting mitochondrial performance may provide wide-reaching wellness benefits.
The MitoCollar™ is not a replacement for veterinary care but may complement your pet’s overall wellness and care plan.
How soon will I see results in my pet?
Results vary depending on the condition being addressed. Some studies have shown significant increases in Mitochondrial activity after just a single treatment. However, because cells need time to repair and restore normal function, noticeable improvements in energy, mobility, or comfort may take several days to weeks of consistent use.
Is the laser light the same as an LED light?
No.
LED also know as light emitting diodes is non-coherent and scatters quickly,
and much of it can reflect off your pet’s fur before reaching deeper tissue.
Additionally, research shows that when mitochondria malfunction, they can cause
decoherence — a breakdown in the body’s cellular communication and energy flow.
The MitoCollar™ uses coherent laser light, allowing more photons to pass through fur and skin and reach underlying tissues and circulating blood. Coherent laser
light supports the body’s natural order — restoring energy, structure, and
signaling at the cellular level.
Why is the laser aimed at the jugular vein?
The jugular region provides easy access to nearby nerves and circulating blood, which travels throughout the body carrying proteins, hormones, metabolites, signaling molecules, and extracellular mitochondria involved in biological signaling.
Safety & Usage
Is the MitoCollar™safe for various animal types and sizes?
Yes. The MitoCollar™ was designed to be safe for animals of different sizes, breeds, and coat types. Since mitochondria functions the same way in all animals, the laser’s effects are biologically relevant across species. The adjustable collar ensures a proper fit and consistent positioning of the laser over the jugular area.
Can I use the MitoCollar™ on a pet with a medical condition?
In most cases, yes—but we recommend consulting your veterinarian if your pet has a serious health condition, is pregnant, or is undergoing other treatments. This ensures that the MitoCollar™ is integrated safely into their care plan.
Are there any side effects?
Low-level laser therapy is non-invasive and does not damage tissue. There are no known side effects when used as directed, aside from the caution to avoid shining the laser light directly into the eyes for an extended period. The treatment produces no heat, burning, or discomfort.
What happens if my pet moves during treatment?
This is not an issue—the MitoCollar™ was designed to work effectively whether your
pet is lying down, walking, or even running. While keeping your pet calm may help ensure maximum photon delivery, normal movement will not prevent the treatment from working.
Practical Concerns
Does it work on animals with long, thick fur?
Yes. The MitoCollar™ emits roughly 24 quadrillion photons per second in a
focused beam. While some photons may reflect off the fur, the majority pass
through to reach the jugular area. The laser’s power output was specifically
chosen to ensure enough photons penetrate fur and skin effectively.
Think of it like throwing a bucket of sand at a chainlink fence.
How long is each treatment?
The MitoCollar™ is pre-programmed with treatment times ranging from 7 to 30 minutes. The device automatically adjusts the duration based on your pet’s breed and weight, and it will turn off at the end of the session.
How many days per week should I use it?
This depends on your pet’s needs, but many owners use it once daily or several times per week for maintenance. Chronic or acute issues may benefit from more frequent use in the short term.
How many treatments per day is it safe to apply?
Laser therapy works through biomodulation, meaning that if the targeted biological systems are already functioning optimally, the laser photons will have no significant effect on the cells—either positive or negative. Multiple daily treatments are considered safe. While no research has shown harmful effects from frequent use of MitoCollar™ technology, we recommend a maximum of three treatments per day.
Is the MitoCollar™ waterproof?
The MitoCollar™ is splash resistant. It should not be submerged or used during
swimming or bathing.
Maintenance & Longevity
How long will the battery last between charges?
The rechargeable battery provides enough power for multiple treatments before needing a recharge, typically several days to a week, depending on usage frequency.
How long will the MitoCollar™ last?
With proper care, the MitoCollar™ is designed for years of reliable use. The solid-state laser diodes have a lifespan measured in thousands of operating hours.
Does the laser output weaken over time?
No. The laser diode is designed to operate reliably for several years. It does not gradually lose power—instead, it will either function at full output or stop working entirely if it fails.
How do I clean the MitoCollar™?
Simply wipe the housing and strap with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly before use. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
